Ghana to Commission Over 80 Educational Projects Across the Nation

On Thursday, November 21, the government of Ghana will officially commission over 80 educational projects across all 16 regions of the country. This initiative aims to improve access to quality education by providing state-of-the-art facilities designed to meet the varied needs of Ghanaian students.

According to the Ministry of Education, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will spearhead the nationwide event, which will include simultaneous ceremonies at regional and district levels. Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum will also play key roles in officiating the ceremonies. To ensure widespread participation, the events will be broadcast live on major television networks and social media platforms.

Diverse Educational Facilities to Support Learning

The projects span various levels of education, from basic schools to senior high schools and technical institutions. They include STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) schools, E-blocks, and kindergarten facilities to enhance early childhood education.

Some of the standout projects include the Kpasenkpe Model STEM SHS in the West Mamprusi District, the Accra STEM Academy in La-Nkwantanang-Madina, and the Awaso Model STEM SHS in Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai. For basic education, facilities such as a 12-unit classroom block at Salem D/A Basic in Atwima Mponua and two-unit kindergarten blocks at Fremasi DA Primary in Assin South are also part of the initiative.

“These projects are a testament to the government’s dedication to improving education infrastructure and creating an environment where every child can thrive,” said a statement from the Ministry of Education.

Regional Highlights

In the Ashanti Region, projects like the Bosomtwe Model STEM JHS, featuring a four-story, 11-unit classroom block, and the Wesley Girls Demonstration School in Kumasi Metro, which will receive a six-unit classroom block, stand out as significant investments.

The Northern Region will unveil an 18-unit classroom block at the Sagnarigu Tamale Business School to accommodate growing student enrollment. The Volta Region is also set to benefit from a new six-unit classroom block with modern sanitation facilities at Kodzobi Ando Basic School in Adaklu.

Technical and Vocational Education

The initiative includes a focus on Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET), with projects such as the Anyinam TVET-Applied Technical and Fashion School and the Akomadan TVET-Applied Technical School. These institutions aim to provide students with hands-on skills for the job market, promoting economic growth and self-reliance.

A Call to Witness Progress

The Ministry of Education has invited the public to participate in this milestone event, either in person at the various commissioning sites or via live broadcasts.

“This is a celebration of progress in Ghana’s educational journey, and we encourage all citizens to join in,” the Ministry added.

These initiatives signify a major step forward in Ghana’s commitment to providing quality education for all, laying the foundation for a future where every child can reach their full potential.
